European Collectors Meetings: A Journey Through Tennis History

European collectors meetings bring together tennis enthusiasts who share a passion for the sport’s history. Attendees are often dressed in traditional all-white attire and flat caps, carrying classic wooden rackets, and gather to admire, trade, and discuss rare memorabilia. Since I collect, these gatherings have taken place in Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Italy, each with its own unique charm and atmosphere.

Klosters, Switzerland 2026

Following the successful 2022 edition, the European Tennis Collectors Meeting returned to the beautiful Swiss mountain village of Klosters, once again perfectly organised by Hans and Urs. Collectors and tennis enthusiasts from no fewer than ten different countries gathered for a memorable weekend dedicated to the history of tennis.

A visit to the outstanding Tennis Museum Klosters, home to one of Europe's finest collections of historic tennis memorabilia, once again proved to be one of the highlights of the meeting. The programme also included the traditional collectors' bazaar, fascinating conversations, vintage tennis tournament and plenty of opportunities to admire rare and unique items from private collections.

The meeting coincided with the ITF Men's M25 and Women's W35 Klosters Open, allowing participants to enjoy high-level international tennis while surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Swiss Alps. The combination of world-class tennis, spectacular mountain landscapes and the warm hospitality of the organisers made this another unforgettable edition of the European Tennis Collectors Meeting.

Minori, Italy 2025

A warm and memorable gathering organized by Salvatore on the Amalfi Coast. Collectors from Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland and my friend Ger and me met to share the passion for historic tennis rackets — and to enjoy true Italian hospitality by the sea.

Heerlen, the Netherlands 2024

The 2024 meeting, organized by me, brought together enthusiasts from across Europe. Set in the Netherlands, this gathering combined local hospitality with the familiar thrill of exhibitions and (trading) markets, highlighting the enduring appeal of tennis history for collectors.

Nontron, France 2023

Hosted by Jean-Claude on his stunning private artificial grass court, the 2023 meeting offered a more intimate setting. Collectors could visit Jean-Claudes Musée du tennis des Truffières, admire rare pieces, engage in trading, and experience the charm of a French countryside venue dedicated to tennis heritage.

Klosters, Switzerland 2022

Organized by Hans and Urs alongside the European Junior Championships (under-18), this inaugural meeting combined the excitement of competitive tennis with the elegance of historical collections. Attendees enjoyed exhibitions and lively exchanges of memorabilia in the picturesque Alpine setting.
